Today we are celebrating Ann’s 10 year anniversary of working as our Volunteer Co-Ordinator!
Ann worked as a registered nurse in England before moving to Australia in 2006 where she began working in the aged care sector. In 2015, she was given the opportunity to join PCACT as a volunteer coordinator. Ann was one of three coordinators at that time with a primary focus on providing volunteer support to home-based clients.
At this time, Ann’s mother had just died at home with the support of a palliative care home-based team. Ann had been the primary carer and was keenly aware of the benefits of home-based care, yet she notes that taking on this new role was emotional for her.
She had never worked with volunteers before, so this was an additional challenge to consider. Nevertheless, she decided to give it ago and, as they say, the rest is history! Ten years later we are recognising a decade of contribution and service.
When asked to reflect on her time with PCACT, Ann said:
“I can honestly say that I have loved every minute of getting to know our volunteers as they dedicate their time so selflessly to our clients and patients.
We are privileged to work with some of the most vulnerable people in our community. I have met so many beautiful people and I am so proud to see our volunteers provide hours of compassionate, empathetic and professional support.
Thank you so much for being my team, my support and the most amazing volunteers a coordinator could work with over the last 10yrs.”
We send thanks and good wishes and recognise a decade of commitment, care, compassion and service. Thank you, Ann!
