This toolkit is designed for carers working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who have a life limiting illness. This toolkit is not intended to give the reader all the answers, but to shed some light on different cultures and cultural practices and how these may affect care at end of life. It will be a starting point and a referral source.

The important takeaway message is to never make the mistake of assuming we know what someone’s preferences are – always ask them.

The toolkit on cultural approaches to death and dying can be accessed here.
