PC ACT volunteers support residents who are receiving palliative care in Residential Aged Care Facilities. Volunteers spend time with residents, offering support and companionship within the facility. Activities may range from simple conversation and companionship through to reading, massage and board games.
Services we can provide to aged care residents include:
- Being a regular friendly presence for the resident and family members.
- Offer companionship to residents including conversation, listening and engaging in other activities and games of interest to the resident.
- Accompany a resident on an outing around the grounds, to a café or somewhere of the resident’s choosing.
- Assist with letter writing, reading or using electronic devices.
- Provide relaxation with gentle hand massage, where the volunteer is appropriately trained.
- Assist with transport for appointments, where requested and approved.
- Assist with compiling residents’ life stories through our A Moment In Time program, where requested and appropriate.
